Simmers have mixed feelings about the general idea of paid expansion packs, especially when features such as seasons, pets, and university have been with the franchise for so long that they feel like they should be base game content at this point. And with an influx of new players with the base game going free-to-play, it can be overwhelming looking at all of the DLC available (and the associated costs). In fact, as of the time of this writing the total retail cost for all available Sims 4 DLC, not counting bundles or sales, is almost $1000 USD!

Another great mod by KawaiiStacie, the Explore mod adds new rabbithole adventures for your sims and their friends to go on, as well as adding a gambling mechanic to the game. Sims can go out to eat, go to events, visit the spa, shop, and more! Plus, they will return from their adventures with buffs and their skills, motives, and relationships will change to reflect their trips as well. @avalynn1206 Sorry for the delay in responding. There aren't a lot of gaming laptops available for $700 or less right now, but if you're patient, you should be able to find something that works. As an example, this one should run all current packs together on ultra graphics settings, with some room to spare to account for more demanding custom content.

Magnolia Promenade, the world that shipped with the Get to Work expansion pack, is transformed into Paris.

The Fairies vs Witches mod by SpinningPlumbobs adds the whimsical winged creatures back into the game with the support of the Realm of Magic game pack.
NANDO has created another world mod in collaboration with SixamCC, providing vacation-seeking Sims a Santorini-inspired world that uses the Granite Falls world that shipped with the Outdoor Retreat game pack. The Breeze of Greece mod changes the scenery of the Granite Falls world, replaces the map view, and brings in a new world icon that reflects the sunny breezy image of Simtorini. Aptly named, Simtorini creates a stunningly realistic getaway world for any Sim.
The pack gives Pufferhead Sims the memorabilia and merch of their dreams, with clothing items and objects to show their support for their Harnocks house. Super fans can even answer a quiz that Mlys made to sort them into one of four Harnocks houses: Alpaggard, Leetlefloof, Ivybell, and Owlenmoon.
Weddings in The Sims 4 before the My Wedding Stories game pack were either a single event or an immediate elopement. The game pack introduced more gameplay and events revolving around weddings and traditions. If players want expanded wedding gameplay without buying a new pack, the My Wedding Mod by Caradriel brings a lot of depth.

Traits are essentially a list of likes and dislikes that you assign to your sim in create-a-sim, or when they age up. Traits include personality quirks such as hot-headed, romantic, gloomy, art-lover etc. Traits can affect gameplay on a surface level, granting your sim unique moodlets based on the traits they have been assigned to. For example, the dog-lover trait will make it much easier for sims to establish relationships with dogs, and they will have bonus actions with dogs. Gloomy sims will find themselves in a sad mood often. For this reason, traits can inject some needed personality into your sims.
